Genesis Esports won two of six games and lead BGMS Super Weekend 2 by 47 points

Six games at the NODWIN Gaming Arena on Friday were enough to settle who is winning Super Weekend 2. The interesting part of the BGMI Masters Series leaderboard is now everything below first place.

Genesis Esports won two of six games and lead BGMS Super Weekend 2 by 47 points

Genesis Esports have taken the first day of Super Weekend 2 apart. Six games into the last stage before the BGMI Masters Series Grand Finals, they sit on 128 points at the NODWIN Gaming Arena in Delhi NCR. Nebula Esports, the next team on the board, are on 81.

That gap of 47 is bigger than the entire day’s work of any of the four teams at the bottom of the sixteen.

Five top-five finishes out of six

Genesis opened in fifth on Rondo, then won game two on Erangel. Third on Miramar followed, then second back on Rondo, then a second chicken dinner on Miramar. Only the closing game went wrong, and even that was a tenth place rather than a collapse.

Nobody else won more than one game all day. Team SouL took the opener, Team Tamilas the third and Vasista Esports the fourth, and neither of the last two kicked on from it. Vasista are ninth on 60. Team Tamilas are twelfth on 53.

The cut sits at sixth, and it is three points wide

Super Weekend 2 is the shortcut. The top six after Sunday go straight into the Grand Finals from 4 to 6 September. Seventh to sixteenth drop into the Playoffs on 31 August, where six more teams from the season-long League leaderboard join them and six of the sixteen are knocked out over three days.

After Friday, that sixth place belongs to GodLike Esports on 67, and they got there in the last game of the night. Four finishes of tenth or worse had left them nowhere until they won game six on Erangel. Apex Gaming are seventh on 65. Team SouL are eighth on 64. Twelve games remain and three points is not a lead.

Zero Ark are fourth on 73 and Myth Official fifth on 70, both close enough to the teams above them that one bad rotation flips the order.

Orangutan have not found it yet

Orangutan came into this tournament with an invitation straight into Super Weekend 1, the same shortcut GodLike had, and they have spent the competition since then playing catch-up. Six games on Friday brought one top-five finish. They are level with Wyld Fangs on 44, with Team Outrage on 41 and K9 Esports on 38 below them.

For those four, the Playoffs are now the realistic route, and the Playoffs are where a season ends early.

What is left

Games seven to twelve run on Saturday 29 August and the last six on Sunday 30 August, all beginning at 4pm India time. The Playoffs follow from 31 August to 2 September, and the Grand Finals close the season from 4 to 6 September, with the last day played under the smash rule and a share of the 1.01 crore rupee prize pool waiting at the end of it.
